We bought a used 2018 Chevy Colorado Tuesday (June 28, 2022), selection is very limited around us and we found one that met our specifications. We are downsizing from a 2016 Silverado. This is my husband's truck but I will drive it for commute. We bought it Tuesday which is 80 miles away from home, then we drove it on an errand trip about 70 miles one way Wednesday. About 50 miles into the trip the check engine light came on. We've owned a Colorado before (2005) and knew sensors were an issue. So we drove to our destination and went to get our check engine light checked. It was a P0014 Camshaft Position B – Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1). We asked was it drivable and the store said it was. When then called the dealership who assured us it was okay to drive. We couldn't make it back in time that day to get it checked out.
When my husband took it yesterday (July 1) to the dealer, and found out that something had ate the wires! This truck was sitting for 4 months and they did a "check". I understand it's hard to catch it all. So my husband sat there from 8:30-1 pm, they had to solder wires and replace some wires for the wiring harness. During this time it is to note that the truck had no apparent issues driving.
So after 1:00 my husband was heading home (remember it's 70 miles to our house). About 50 miles in again, check engine light came back on and the truck started to shudder hard. He called the dealership and they said to bring it back. He stayed from 1:40 to 4:30 and they told him they were going to keep it. I understand things happen. I just wonder how much this has effected the other electronics on this truck. We didn't get a warranty but this covers the 30 day warranty from the dealer. I'm hoping this can be resolved easily but I'm upset we can't use the truck during the holidays and the Silverado we had was paid off! I wish we could reverse our decision. I know this is just a fluke and probably minor inconvenience in our lives but it's frustrating nonetheless.
