When driving easy with the truck, it sometimes searches for the next gear and revs up some and then shifts to next gear. I talked with the local Chevy dealer service department and reply is that it is normal for the truck, and then I asked for recalls or updates and there were none. This is a 4 cyl 2.5 with a 6 speed auto. Seems like the dealers will not talk or be truthful and will not go out of their way to help future customers - it's sad.
I have been overall happy with my 2018 Colorado except for the Transmission where it has skipped on takeoff like it wasn't receiving Fluid, then it caught, shuttered and everything shifted out ok. I had backed out of my Drive normally, as any responsible driver would. After placing it into drive normally as I have done before and experienced the skip and catch that lasted for about a second creating a catch vibration as it seemed like a transmission low on fluid. On the open road, it seems to shift out fine with no issues.
However, the fluid was checked at the local Dealer at an Oil Change period and no known leakage problems. It has only done this about 5-6 times and I have 15K miles on it as I write this. Not sure if this is just a fluke or maybe take it in and have it checked out. The occurrence of only five-six times is kind of hard to explain to a Dealer with 15K Miles on the Vehicle. Anyway, if it eventually goes into a bigger concern, then there could not be much disagreement...huh! Most likely, it will either get worse or fix itself. I have not reported this to the Dealer yet but I probably should. I hope this helps someone to see if we really do have a concern or not with the Transmission.
I just don't know at this point.
Update from May 20, 2020: I had not read all the other complaints online before I wrote mine. Seems they are experiencing some problems as well. So, I am performing an update on my concern.
I bought the Colorado new and actually love it. But..the Transmission certainly has me concerned now after reading some of the other complaints. Confused as to what to do. Nothing seemed to fix their Transmission at the Dealer as I read. If just changing Fluid is the only main thing that Dealers are doing. Really think that will fix it? Why would GM put in Fluid that would become worse in the first place?
Update from Oct 27, 2020: My Transmission started to shutter on the open highway on a trip. It began to get worse as I returned back home from the trip. The vehicle now has 19,870 miles and is at a dealer who tells me they have a fix by changing the Transmission Fluid. Until that is done, I won't know whether that does work. The concern is if that really does not fix the transmission, do I take it back, or what? Where would you go from here? I have doubts about fluid change that would fix it, but we will see.
