I bought my 2018 Colorado during covid in March 2020 at Surgenor in Ottawa St-Laurent street. They had no mechanics so they did the best that they could, they told me that the truck would be prepared when I signed the contract. It smelled like cigarettes, and I was not happy with tires or scratched box liner. It took 4 visit to clear the smell and the smell took 6 months to be gone, the truck passed inspection with less than 50% tire wear and less then 50% brakes, so I had to change all the brakes at a cost of 1050$ can., then change my tires 800$.
I changed the oil which was at 38% life at a cost of 75$ can, I understand that I got the truck at 68,800 km, but they didn't service the truck at all, they cleaned it and that's it. I had to go back 5 more times before somebody that knew what they where doing, only to find a knocking sound in my front end. It was a body bolt that was loose, it cost me 10 hours of work, plus gas for my truck and loaner that they kept giving with no gas. So then in August of this year, we decided to go to a cottage about 8 hours from home for a week vacation, and not even 3 hours into our drive, the truck started shaking and vibrating. We stopped multiple times to see what was the problem, did not see anything wrong, so we kept on going and had to endure this vibration for the rest of our trip.
When we came back, we broth the truck to Lachapelle in Gatineau because Surgenor had no loaner or shuttle to bring me to work. They called me saying that it would cost me 1000$ or more to change the oil in my transmission, and according to their records, no oil servicing was done to my truck at 70,000 km, and Surgenor had the truck at 68.800 km and didn't even bother to do the regular service requirements for GM factory changes. They put that all on the consumer, and they tell me that it is not covered by GM or my warranty and give me the list of all vehicles affected with this problem. I tell them that it is clearly a defect in the transmission, they tell me that it is a maintenance problem and not covered at all. I called GM clientele service 1 month ago to loge a complaint and they've been giving the excuse that they are trying to get all the facts before giving a answer. It took me 15 minutes to call both garages and they told me that nobody contacted them 2 weeks ago when I called.
I am still waiting and calling every week to get compensation for paying for work that should have been done at Surgenor before I took possession of my Colorado. I had to change my transfer case and axle oil at the same time because the garage told me that it was time to do so according to GM specs. I always bought GM vehicles but not anymore - we are buying another suv for my wife but we be going with Ford. Dodges are no good and from what I can see, GM is not far being like that. I did not have a good experience with them and I hope people will stay clear of Colorados from 2017-2019 until they fix this issue.
