The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal was pushing his foot upwards. The contact had to step on the brake pedal very hard to stop the vehicle to prevent a crash. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed vacuum pump, vacuum sensor, and a fractured cam shaft. The contact was informed that the vacuum sensor and the vacuum pump needed to be replaced, and the cam shaft needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
