ABS light came on, grinding noise, lost brakes momentarily
Truck has almost 16,000 miles on it. Driving home from work at night, the ABS light warming comes on.
10 miles from home, I heard what sounds like a grinding noise from the front. When I applied the brakes, the grinding noise grew worse and the brakes did not' stop me for a few seconds. After that, the noise stopped, the brakes came back on but the light stays on.
I got home and took off the front wheels and the brake pads are still good. I have not a clue on what went wrong. if the sensors go bad after 15,000 miles, its not a vehicle to keep but to sell. I have never had this problem before in a 5 year old vehicle with low mileage.
Update from Jan 7, 2025: I ended up pulling out the abs sensors from the front wheels and sanding down the rust around and on the surface. It fixed the problem. RUST was the cause.. Rust gone, problem gone.
