One day I'm topping off my gas tank at the pump, when I only had 1/4 tank remaining. After I topped it off and started my truck, the "LOW FUEL" message read on my dash, and the needle went to red. I found it to be weird, and within a few minutes, it bumped back up to full. The Colorado forum has several people saying it's the fuel sending unit, and over the several months of just dealing with the issue, a check engine light came on once and said it was just the fuel sending unit. It's a $200 part on RockAuto and involves dropping the whole tank to replace it, so I've just lived with the inconvenience and relying off of my trip-odometer for miles per fill up. In no means has it left me stranded, it just says "empty" on a filled tank, and sometimes the needle will jump around and be generous stating I have a full tank when it's only half full, and eventually fixes itself.
