While driving on the freeway, the truck accelerated to 90 mph, and only stopped accelerating when I applied the brakes. Cruise control switch was in the off position. Chevrolet dealership said it was not a problem.

I was driving on the highway and noticed my cruise control wouldn't come on. I figured it was a fuse and would get to it after work. When I pulled into work a coworker who was behind me told me I had no brake lights. Checked all fuses, all were fine. Took the truck to a Chevrolet dealership and was told the brake switch and/or wires had burnt up and needed to be replaced. I paid over $500 for the repair. Later found out there was a recall for this incident, but it did not cover my VIN. I called GM and complained and was told there was a "special coverage" so they reimbursed me a portion of my repair costs. Fast forward to February 10, 2014 and I have the same issue. No cruise but more importantly no brake lights. I called GM to complain again and was again told my VIN does not fall under the recall (recall no. 09049). Was also told the special coverage expired 4 months ago.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving the cruise control became stuck in the "on" position no matter what speed the vehicle was traveling. He was able to slow the vehicle down when the brakes were engaged but as soon as you let go of the brakes it would accelerate. The dealer or General Motors were not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 22,000.

I was driving on the highway and tried to use the cruise control and it didn't work. My brake lights were also not working. I didn't know my brake lights were not working until I had to slow down for a car in front of me and a car behind me almost hit me. It wasn't until I got off the expressway and a man told me my brake lights were not working. I checked the fuses and they are all in working order. I called my local dealership and the told me that my 2007 Chevy Colorado was not part of the recall even though there was a recall for this sort of problem. He said my VIN number was not one of those recalled.

I am the owner of the Chevy Colorado ( 10237336 ) a correction needs to be made on the report you have listed. The problem has happened several times ( at least 20 ) not once, the problem started at 12 K miles and continues. Also, the ABS failed at 20 K miles, the fan clutch burnt up, the A/C quit, all the wiring was burned, the list goes on. I still have 100 miles left on my warranty.... any suggestions ?
