Stopped for gas, filled tank, watched as last of the fuel poured all over the pavement. Cautiously drove to our mechanic, he told us to drive the truck until fuel was mostly used up since the fuel was no longer leaking. Came back a week later, they took it in and found that the fuel pump had rusted out. Went to replace it but the metal valves had rusted so bad, they broke off in the plastic pipes and they had to special order the plastic piping to replace that as well. Got the wrong pipes in thrice, finally retrofitted what they had.
I got truck, paid a grand, drove to gas station to fill 'er up and watched as gas spewed out the fill nozzle area. Drove back to mechanics. They had never heard of that. I went on my way. Two days later, truck heaved and choked at start, but drove nonetheless. Next day, truck wouldn't start, but luckily all my fuel spewed all over my garage floor, so I figured, time to call the mechanic. They towed it in, found that their retro-fitted fittings had failed and the gas line was basically open. Got it fixed, no extra charge. Truck now runs great. FUN TIMES.
Otherwise, this truck has been super reliable and most of the issue up there was due to natural wear and tear on the truck (188,000!), and the mistake of my friendly neighborhood mechanics.
