Just like everyone else, I'm tired of this problem, new factory key, new fobs, new battery, still same problem. someone said to lock and unlock doors 3 times with fob and actually open the door each time to reset anti theft system. Will try this next time to avoid waiting the 15 mins.
2006 Colorado cranks over real easy with no firing. Wait 10 minutes, starts like it never had a problem. Getting worse all the time. Had a new key made last week but didn't help. This is the first time I've reported, but it has happened at least 20 times in the last two months. Some days, I have to get up earlier for critical appointments because I can't miss my appointments.
I appreciate the response/report from Daniel of Spokane, Washington. We're gonna further our investigation and not shove the key in, make sure the keys are not warn and possibly replace the ignition as it may be worn as well. We'll report back to see how it rolls and plays out. The person (family member) we purchased our 2006 Chevy Colorado from spent thousands of dollars trying to have the problem fixed, but no luck.
Concerning the intermittent starting problem, it is merely the vehicle's Anti-Theft feature. Usually occurs if you jam the key in & gets more sensitive as the key wears. If you check your owner's manual, it explains in detail. It is to stop your vehicle from being started with a shaved or otherwise modified key. Yes, it is annoying & usually happens when you are running late ! LOL & yes, it takes 10 - 15 minutes before attempting to start again.
Just like the others I've read on here it turns over but won't fire. And I know it's not the fuel pump because I have to wait 10-15 min until it will start for me. It has made me late to work a few times.
have chevy Colorado, engine starts when it wants to. have to wait 10 minutes than it would start. Gm should recall and fix this problem or us Colorado owners should start a petition to gm or start legal actions. I thought it was only my truck but after search and search on the net. it seems im not the only one.
Pretty much the same as the others with the same problem. Its hit or miss. Sometimes it goes weeks, maybe a month or two with no problems, then out of nowhere, "Nothing"!!! Just turns and turns but won't start. Then after sitting for about ten to fifteen minutes it just starts like nothing ever happened. In the past year I've taken it to the mechanics about six times they couldn't find anything but on two occasions suggested that I replace the battery (at the tune of about $120 bucks a pop). The last battery was replaced about 90 days ago and I had no problems until about two weekends ago plus this morning ( was almost late for work).
The problem is that when I'm at the shop the truck starts just fine; pull up to get gas and "here we go again". Usually (and fortunately) there is not a long line of cars behind me.
Well it really is strange! We traded in a 2004 standard cab Colorado to obtain a mid size truck with an actual back seat. Our son was just months old and we did not feel comfortable with the riding situation. The tacomas even used were just out of our reach. We found this 06 crew cab Colorado that had 25,000 mile on it and was covered and certified etc. I had taken the 04 in for a recall on a tail light. The mechanic said the colorados were junk. Never had a problem with the 04. Sometime in late 2008 to mid 2009. We received a notice in the mail about another tail light recall for the 06. We were having the oil changed at the dealership as well when the service person informed us that they were going to have to keep the truck for some more involved repairs. Something about a recall on the valve. Something in the valves was causing the valves to basically choke out after so long. which created an issue with the entire intake system... So they fixed it all. Supposedly. About 6 mos - a year later, we started having the same starting issues that other people seem to also be having with their colorados. I took it back to the dealer ship. And of course they wanted to run an entire diagnostic on it which was not covered under warranty. I could not afford it at the time. Also. the repairs would have been rather costly after investigating. so we opted out at the time. So.... The same starting issues to the tee are what seems to be a common issue within these vehicles. Cranks over but wont start. Almost like if fuel isn't getting in to the fuel injection system or something electrical isn't making the connection, for the truck to fully ignite and start. Even at times it would crank then crank again yet nothing. Wait about ten minutes. And sure enough. It would somehow complete the circuit and start. So we have not had the problem fixed due to financial issue... But it is becoming more of an issue, current day... As does anything that goes unattended. It is occurring more frequently and the wait time has gone from 10 mins to 25+.... The reason for my long windedness is simply because... I had no idea that others were having the same exact problem with their Colorados within the same years of manufacturing... And. At approximately the same mileage tallies..... It really makes me wonder if there is something more to these particular years of trucks. Or were they all just lemons.......
i stopped to put gas in truck! paid for gas filled truck and got in to leave truck cranked over would not start!!!! this was such a pain! i waited 10 min. it started! the worst part was waiting in front of pumps! a sheriff came into station and i thought i was in trouble! i thought the lady inside called me in! he was getting gas thank god! but so embarassing! this is the biggest pain! this has happened 5 other times at differant places! i have been a gm fan forever they should recall and fix this horrible problem!!! thanks!!!!
I use to love Chevy but since i have had this Colorado with all the electrical problems i absolutely hate Chevy. i have to worry every morning if its gonna crank or not so i can get to work. I would advise anyone not to buy a Chevy its nothen but junk. And i think its sorry of Chevrolet to not fix this problem.
My truck keeps not starting at the most inconvenient times. It will run fine and then when I go to start the truck, it will not turn over or anything. What can I do to help fix this issue?
in the past few months this has happened 2 times. One morning I went to my truck and tried to start it...it just turned over and wouldn't start. I came back that evening and turned the key...started right up. It happened again last week and then a few hours later I got in and it started right up.
My truck usually starts first time every time...There has been no primary reason for this...My mechanic cannot replicate...
So far, it's an intermittent problem, but still worrisome. I don't want it to happen when I'm out in the middle of nowhere, because I'm still not sure what's causing the problem. Our mechanic told me to report it and see if anyone else has been experiencing the same thing and/or if they have identified what is causing it..
