The air or heat only work on the number 4 setting, sometimes it will kick in and work on the 3rd setting. It's too expensive to fix, and when I consider all the other issues the truck has, this seems to be minor. I'm just going to start with working on figuring out the rattle in the motor first.

blew through 4 resistors before I read to take a wire brush and scrape the paint off the grounding point. The screw alone was shorting so I made a greater mating surface. haven't had an issue since

OK, enough of this bull---t............. This is the third resistor put in this truck....lasts for a few months, then burns out again... I've ordered a new wiring harness, and two more resistors.. I'll replace them when they blow, because they sure will... Another piece of outsourced crap, resistors are made in China, from Napa, and other countries with other dealers.

Tail lights also blow out when the resistor goes bad. Obviously it's an electrical design defect with no help from Chevy to fix this garbage... I'll never buy another Chevy as long as the American markets put these cheap overseas parts in the vehicles, thanks to Obama's trade agreements. Help the third world countries produce sh*t that the Americans are forced to pay American prices for, when their labor costs are pennies a day and that's what their products are worth.... pennies.

I've since bought tail bulbs by the boxes,,since Hawaii charges $8.00 each,,and I'll be replacing them as fast as I can press on the brakes...........next truck will definitely NOT BE A CHEVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update from Feb 17, 2018: truck turned 60,000 miles...sick of not having 4 fan speeds, so I decided to fix this myself. I ordered a new GM factory wiring harness and 3 blower resistors. Took 45 minutes and a lot of cramped connectors to change(5).. changed out everything, seeing that the original resistor connector was burned out on the 3rd terminal. Drove 200 miles since, changing fan speeds whenever needed, and so far, everything is working fine..New wiring harness --AC DELCO, dated 9/5/2017 made in MEXICO..resistor made in Slovenia...

the wire harness has never been right, every time i get it working by messing with the wire clip it always stops working. Chevy knows about it for years but does nothing. its either on high or nothing. The blower motor that is. 1 2 3 settings only work when you wiggle the wire harness under the dash. you either freeze on air condition or get hot on heat. its a pain in the ass..No other trucks or cars i have owned have had this problem. And I have been driving for 44 years.

Ok, I just had the ABS module and left front speed sensor replaced 6 weeks ago....$1800...now the fan blower just took a crap on the way home, speeds 1,2, 3 are out, and 4 blows like hell.....I live in Hawaii, but I don't like freezing on number 4. Electrical issue for sure, and lots of other owners report the same thing...sounds like a crap part from Mexico or China...Doesn't show up on the diagnostics..seems like Chevy produced a bunch of pigs, that look good, but still stink. I'll end up tracing it down to a faulty switch or module, no doubt, and replacing it with a quality part(not one from chevy).

Update from Jun 7, 2013: ok, here's the fix on my truck,.....took out the blower resistor. Small amount of overheat residue on the third plug. The factory part was made in Slovenia(wherever the hell that is)...got a replacement part from Napa.(Made in China). This is whats wrong with the cars here., all the parts are made in third world countries, and they're junk(but not the American rip off prices for them.) I just replaced the camshaft actuator position solenoid, today, just in case it was going to fail(they say the average mileage for failure is 36000 miles.) Part came in and lo and behold,,,,made in China..I'll be changing that one every 30,000 miles for preventative measures.
