2005 Chevrolet Colorado I4 engine 5 speed manual transmission. Cannot engage reverse 70% of the time. I understand others have experienced the problem but Chevrolet has a tsb (#611) saying condition is normal. I believe this is a safety issue if reverse cannot be engaged. Problem has not been resolved.
There are 2 major safety problems associated with my manual transmission. 1. when cold, it is pretty much impossible to downshift into 1st or 2nd gear unless I come to almost a complete stop. What this means is I cannot get into these gears to speed up quickly if I need to avoid an accident. Chevrolet said this is normal! 2. it is difficult to shift into reverse some times. Chevrolet even has a bulletin, but they said this is normal as well! what if I need to go in reverse real quick to avoid an accident or a train?
