While driving at any speed or sitting idle reduce power light comes on and vehicle slows down. This is very dangerous and frustrating. I've been to three dealers, and the dealer is there to deal in other words make money even if they don't fix the problems. Not to mention trying there best to get you to trade your problem car in and buy a new car.

Two times the front differential locked into 4X4 by itself. The truck appeared to slip into neutral and engage into 4X4. The 2 H light was on, not 4 hi. I stopped, pushed 4hi, heard actuator engage, pushed 2hi and 4hi disengaged. This is a serious shock to the whole front running gear, universal S, ring and pinion, and transmission.

The initial condition that caused concern: Hard shifting. To move the shifter between any two positions required higher than normal force. This condition alleviated instantly after approximately one month. The force required to move the shifter became normal again. No sounds or other unusual things were observed. The only differences from before the condition until the current condition is the transmission will not go into park, and will only start in neutral. Current condition: The truck will not shift into park. When attempting to put the vehicle into park, the shifter will move enough to allow removal of the key, however, the transmission will not engage park. Because of this, the vehicle is always free to roll. The only way to keep the vehicle from moving while attempting to park is to use the emergency brake. This vehicle is currently both highly inconvenient to drive and highly unsafe. Items: - I have found blogs referencing this issue back to 2004. I know this experience is not unique to this vehicle. - I have found an article that says a recall was issued in 2011 for exactly this issue: trucks.about.com/od/carsafety/A/GM-recalling-Colorado-and-canyon-trucks.htm but I cannot find any documentation for this item on your website. Please provide feedback on what I am missing. - this serious safety issue appears clearly to be a manufacturers defect. Can you facilitate discussion with the oem to fix this issue promptly at the manufacturers cost.

The cam actuator first failed at 57,000 miles in 2009. It now has failed again at 94,000 miles in March 2013, the cost to repair this is approx $900 each time. I can get milage from my tires at a lower cost. This is an item that should not a normal maintenance item. This truck has been a lemon from day one.

Input housing shaft splines in torque converter was worn out after 44,000 miles, was replaced and was worn out again at 79,000 miles. After 35,000 mile, I believe this is a manufacturer defect or they are using a metal that should not be used for tension.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 40 mph, the contact noticed smoke emitting from the rear end of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the transmission line had detached from the transmission fitting, causing the transmission fluid to leak. The contact replaced the fitting and a clip in order to attach the transmission line back to the transmission. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

  • 27,000 miles
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while attempting to reverse. She applied extreme pressure to the accelerator before the vehicle would engage. In addition, the vehicle would independently switch to low four wheel drive gear while the vehicle was in motion at various speeds. This would cause the rear driver's side wheel to feel as if it was dragging and the steering wheel would become extremely tight. The manufacturer advised there were no similar complaints to the contact's and did not provide any assistance. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. A diagnostic test was performed but did not generate any failure codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 27,000.

Four wheel drive will not engage. The lights on the dash just flash and eventually return to 2hi. Nothing works - shifting to neutral, slow roll, dead stop. Nothing. I cycle the 4WD once a week. Worked last week and not this week. Last time 4WD was actually used was in January 2009.

On or around March 21, I was driving my 05 Colorado to work. When I almost arrived I noticed that my truck was driving very forceful and jumpy. When I got back into my truck, it was having trouble starting, but eventually did. That night I was driving home and when I got about 2 miles from my house a message came up on my dashboard that said power failure and it stalled out. The next day, it started ok enough for me to take it to a nearby Chevy dealership. They told me that it was the solenoid valve and the camshaft position actuator was replaced. It drove fine until a few weeks later on April 11th when my truck would not start at all. I had to be towed to the same dealership, where they found that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. I was without my truck for 4 days.

I have had the vehicle into the dealer 7 times because it suddenly and on its own shifts into 4H from 2H. Once, this happened at 45 mph and the vehicle's sudden shifting into 4 wheel drive threw me onto a rocky shoulder. Dealer repeatedly says he cannot do anything about it, because Chevrolet doesn't know what to do about it. Incidents are becoming more frequent. Computers have been reprogrammed, which does not solve the problem. Latest incident delineated below.

About 1 yr. And 1 month after I bought a Chevy Colorado, the thing shut off on me. The first time it left me on the side of I-55 and did not want to start. It did though, but the engine light was on, it soon went off. The dealer reprogrammed the computer. It has shut off on me 4 more times. The dealer will not fix the truck B/C it is not storing "codes". also, the traction control on the truck seems to engadge itself at the oddest of times when there is really no tire slippage and this has me sputtering and jumping while I'm trying to drive in traffic. At first start up, the truck has always made this rattling ping noise out of the muffler. Every time I step out of the truck, I shocks me, I beleive due to the nylon in the fabric seats. The turn signal will only "tick tock" when it wants to. The hood on the truck will "bow" or "bubble" in and out while driving, usually on the inerstate when there is some little wind blowing outside. The alarm on the truck has gone crazy on me a few times. I can unlock the door, it will go off but the radio inside the truck will be playing. If I were to cranck the truck up, turn the engine off, get out, and lock the door, the alarm will be going off about five minutes later. This cycle will keep going on until I reset the computer by pushing the gas pedal three times. All the dealer and GM wants to offer me is an extended warrenty, which the warrenty I have now is doing me absolutely no justice, I refused it. They told me that they cannot work on the truck B/C they cannot duplicate the problems at which they drove it twice, and the computer is not storing codes. This problem seems to be compleately spurratic and unpredictable. I have invested alot of money into this truck and still owe on it. I refuse to be forced to pay for and drive a hazzard.
