Had blower problems with A/C, would not work on 1 - 3, only on 4. now bower has stopped working completely. And, approx. 5 days after blower went out completely, electrical system will not cut off on it's own even after key is removed from ignition. I am resorting to disconnecting battery source every time. I am a chassis specialist with international trucks assembly plant in Texas so I know the all too familiar signs of a defective chassis harness. The issue with the brake light recall is GM's attempt to repair an electrical jumper off the rear harness, solving nothing.

Throughout the course of ownership, I've had several complaints to the dealership concerning the faulty electrical wiring in my vehicle. Since 2004, all repairs have been electrical problems. I have reason to believe that the faulty wiring in my vehicle was the cause of fire to my vehicle which resulted in a total loss. I was also made aware by local firemen at the scene that they've had the same type of fires with the same make and model vehicle just in my area alone. Here is a summary of service history since taking ownership in 2004: Brake switch replacement: 11/19/2004, 1/23/2006, 1/26/2007, and 5/26/2008 R&R blower resistor replacement: 8/28/2007 rear window regulator replacement: 5/1/2006 speaker replacement: 5/1/2006 complained about various electrical wiring issues on 1-24-05, 9-1-05, and 1-26-07.

Blower fan works intermittently. Ocassional smell of burnt wires. Finally stopped working on settings 1,2 and 3, will only work on setting 4. this seems to be a common problem on the Chevy Colorados that GM will not acknowledge.

For the past year my 2004 Colorado has intermittently failed to start when ignition key is first turned to start position. By turning the key off and than on again it will start. It does this once in while, but always seems to start the second or third turn of the key to the start position. Twice over the last two years it wouldn't start at all and I had to let it sit for ten minutes or so, than try again, at which time it started. I believe the problem is caused by the pass lock security system. Because its out of warranty I haven't done anything about it.

Vehicle sometimes will not start. Once it happens, let sit for 10 minutes and it will then start. Taken to dealer and was told it is the passlock (security) system. Checked internet, seems to be a common problem with newer GM vehicles.

My check engine light has been coming off and on continuously for the past six months, however it was diagnosed and it wasn't a big problem. Recently, I have been able to unlock my truck using the keyless entry and when I am in the vehicle the doors will not lock with the lock/unlock button on the door. When driving, after accelerating over 20 mph, the doors use to lock themselves, but now they do not. Normally when I put my truck in park, all the doors will automatically unlock. This has not been happening. I am scared to keep anything in my truck and fear that this might cause more serious problems and expenses. I would like to know if this has been happening with other Colorado's? it seems like since I have gotten this vehicle it has been one problem after another and I am very disappointed in Chevrolet.

The first and ongoing problem grinding in front left, driver, side wheel area. Many attempts have been made to fix this problem, they started out changing the whole front end, along with alignments, after some adjusting the problem will seem to go away only to return with in 2 months second, tires worn from inside out alignment, new tires, I was told one reason was the truck was dirty. I do not feel this is a reason for tire wear. New tires same problem. Third, truck not engaging when shifted into gear. This is on going, we have taken it in many times, the modular for the 2-4H-4L drive was changed, still have problem, they claim can not fix if it does not happen with them, , I video taped it, they will not look at video. Problem is intermittently, and have been asked to do different things to the truck when it happens, the problem is happening more often now, the problem seems to be growing. And still no answer to this or other problems, the dealer should have took back the truck and replaced it, if they can not be fixed.

Their seems to be a short in the electrical system. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle the clock in the stereo would not keep time. No matter how often you set it you can leave the vehicle parked for an hour or so come back and the clock has the wrong time in hours. I have recently had to replace all the bulbs on the passenger side "front and rear". now the driver side park-signal light will not work when the vehicle is in gear. After you put the vehicle in park the light will come on. Also the electric windows do not always work. The tires on the front end have excessive wear on the in side.

6 months after purchasing a brand new 2004 Chevrolet Colorado ZQ8 3.5L extended cab I noticed while driving on the highway wind noise coming from the passenger door as if the door was not completely closed. 2 months later and it was so loud I had to turn my radio over half volume just to listen to my radio. I had the truck seen by the dealership which I bought it and they said that the cause was misaligned. The B4000 door assembly front right align 9635 W5 0.30. They adjusted the door and for 2 months there was no wind noise. The problem keeps occurring needing alignment. I also have a problem with the screws coming loose on the driver side door causing a metal binding sound everytime I open and close the door. Each time I open and close the door the screws are loose enough to were I can hand tighten them. I also had a computer problem in this vehicle as well. A year after having my vehicle out of nowhere and no warning my truck would not start. It would crank over but would not start. I had it towed to the dealership and the invoice states: Scan computer codes P2610 stored in PCM. Mandy codes stored in BCM. Ran bulletin search. Found PCM failure replace PCM. Reprograms and clear codes recheck ok. However since the new computer was placed in the truck the alarm light will come on and stay on every once in a while.

Driver's side electrical button control pad inoperable at irregular and inconsistent instances. Upon pushing driver's side window electrical button, driver side window will not roll down. However, the driver's back, passenger front side, and passenger back side electrical keypad window buttons remain operable. Both the driver and front passenger lock/unlock electrical keypad buttons are inoperable. Upon turning off engine, removing key, exiting vehicle, closing all doors, and pushing the keyless entry lock and/or unlock buttons result in response from keyless locking mechanism. When key is left in ignition and engine running, upon pressing either the lock/unlock electrical buttons on the driver's door or pressing the keyless entry lock/unlock buttons result in a double "dinging" sound from the dashboard display but no other indication is produced from dashboard. Dealer response; customer copy invoice: Operate window, check connector on switch. Window operates normally, cannot duplicate customer complaint. ABS light will come on and stay for an indeterminate amount of time. Normal and correct operation of ABS dashboard display light indeterminate. Results in customer concern for safety of driver and all passengers relying on correct functioning of ABS brake system. Dealer customer copy invoice: Scan computer code C0040. Run flow chart, found right front hub and sensor had intermittent open circuit. Replaced right front hub and speed sensor. Upon starting vehicle to warm up engine in 40-50 degree Fahrenheit environmental conditions, inside manual heat-directional knob will not turn unless extreme pressure is applied. Chevrolet colorad 2004. The cruise control picks up several miles going up a hill, going down hill it jumps. It will kick in real fast sometimes. The vehicle revved in park position approximately 75 mph. When it did it would slow down it started to miss very badly. It was like the whole truck was shaking. The dealer said it had something to do with the computer and with the crank. The cruise control was inoperative.
