The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the emergency brake failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was told the ratcheting mechanism was broken on the inside of the vehicle and needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 64,000. The consumer stated a representative from Ford advised the vehicle needed a parking brake controller. GM offered to cover 20% of the cost of repairs at a GM GM dealership. The consumer felt this was an inadequate amount. Updated 1/2/2013
