The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that when he opened the tailgate, the cable failed and the tailgate would not remain open. The dealer did not inspect the vehicle, however, they stated that there was a recall for the cable. There was no recall listed on the NHTSA website. As of August 3, 2007, the vehicle has not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 75,000. Updated 02-01-08. The consumer stated both cables were failed at the same time and dealer replaced both cables at 8/10/07 at N/C. updated 02/01/08
Less than a week after I purchased the 2004 GM Colorado pickup truck the tailgate open on the expressway and the cabinet I was hauling fell off the truck into the road causing an accident. I was sure the door was shut securely but somehow it just opened up.
