The 2006 added it’s own special flare with gas leaks due to cracks in the “return portion of the modular reservoir assembly.” A recall of 2006 Cobalts was issued to fix the problem, but only to vehicles sold in or current registered in Arizona and Nevada, leaving other owners to pay for repairs themselves.
BCM replaced by dealership in Myrtle Beach, SC as car broke down while on vacation. Cost $600 & dealership totally wiped out our mileage, plus as a result, the air bag indicator light came on. Drove car back to Maryland to have certified dealership fix the air bag issue & correct mileage. The Maryland dealership shorted out the stereo as it would no longer work once they worked on it & would take no accountability because it was not a factory stereo. Check engine light came right back on within the week & dealership wanted to charge us again for another diagnostic. After spending $900 between 2 dealerships on car repairs, involved GM to get some reimbursement which we were able to get $300 back from Myrtle Beach, but car has had a never ending check engine light since the purchase. Spent $1400 getting catlytic converter changed & a few other things to get thru emissions. Had car for one day & check engine light back on & having same issues as Myrtle Beach reflecting BCM needs replacing again. Was not using dealership this time, using local repair shop. They couldn't get a read from diagnostic. Said I would have to go to dealership to get accurate read as the car's computer would not communicate with their equipment. Have yet to take to dealership again. Just need to get rid of this car. I think it's been some sort of an electrical issue all along & none of these parts needed to be replaced. Anyone else having check engine light issues with 2006 Cobalt coupe LT?
