The 2006 added it’s own special flare with gas leaks due to cracks in the “return portion of the modular reservoir assembly.” A recall of 2006 Cobalts was issued to fix the problem, but only to vehicles sold in or current registered in Arizona and Nevada, leaving other owners to pay for repairs themselves.
Since the first summer I had the car I have been having this problem. Usually when it gets hot, but also sometimes for no reason at all (except for that time I hit an animal on the highway) the radio display goes crazy. All the lights sporadically blink on and off all at the same time until finally they all either stay on or just go off. Mainly when it is hot, the display does not show at all. I have taken it to the dealership and they act like I am crazy. They try to say that my remote start wiring is causing the problem and must be removed. This problem has been going on since before I had the remote start installed, so they are full of bull. I have even talked to a guy at the tire shop who has the same problem with his 2006 cobalt. Lucky for him he is a student at UTI and will learn how to fix it himself!

Display will either go blank or just show a lot of squiggles.
