The 2006 added it’s own special flare with gas leaks due to cracks in the “return portion of the modular reservoir assembly.” A recall of 2006 Cobalts was issued to fix the problem, but only to vehicles sold in or current registered in Arizona and Nevada, leaving other owners to pay for repairs themselves.
This problem is related to my low coolant light. I have brought the car in at least five times for the low coolant problem, and low coolant light illuminated. They changed out the head gasket, and filled the coolant 3 times. I noticed for some time that the engine would never get above 130 degrees or so. Well I live in MI and this had been happening over the summer, so I hadn't used the heat. When the first frost hit around NOV or so I turned the heat on. I had a definite strong anti-freeze smell which made me nauseas, and the heat never got hot in the car. The car was leaking anti-freeze/coolant somewhere in the heater core. They replaced the thermostat, heater core, and blower motor, because along with the lack of heat and strong smell, the blower motor was making a loud noise when on. They "fixed" it, but the heat still has much to be desired.
thank god for heated seats. because the heat in my car isnt that hot. and it takes a long time to warm up. my boyfriend has a Toyota... and the heat blasts soo hot. the cobalt falls short on this one.
