CarComplaints.com Notes: Widespread instrument panel failure is a common and frustrating reality for many 2004-2005 Chevy Cavalier owners. They're often left in the dark when it comes to knowing how fast they're going, what their engine temperature is, or even how much fuel they have left in the tank.
The likely culprit is a series of bad "stepper motors" which control the gauges and are no longer covered under warranty. Think not being able to see your speed is a safety issue and should be recalled for all owners? We'd agree. Trouble is, apparently the NHTSA does not.
that was the 2nd fuel pump I had replaced...I am a widow and care for my sister with cerebral palsy who is non verbal and deaf...we must have a dependable car and this one has been a lemon...
Chevy you know this is a problem. Like Ford, you should step up to the plate and offer a recall. The only reason my repair was so cheap was because I did it myself and just replaced the pump in the strainer. I had to take apart the strainer to do so and found the brand new fuel pump was also bad. Replaced it again and now is working fine. But what a pain in the you know what.
this car is a pos. i want a foreign car. one that lasts and last and oooohhh, there is a car i miss, Toyota Camry. that car went 455,000 miles before i let it rust out and finally die. actually the engine was still running great,Chevy could learn from them.
