Fuel pump failed at 62,000 miles, maintained by new car dealer. I strongly suggest an investigation into the rate of failure of fuel pumps for this model after speaking to several mechanics at the GM service center.

I was on my way to work during a heavy traffic time. As I was attempting to cross 2 lanes of traffic to turn left, my car stalled while I was in the middle of the oncoming lanes. It would not start again. Luckily there was no one behind me so I was able to get out of my car and push it back to the street that I was turning from. The car would not turn over. A tow truck was called to take my car to the repair shop. After paying $570 and only 50,000 miles I had a new fuel pump put in the car.

I was at a friend's house, enjoying dinner, and went to go home at night and the car would not start. It put me down. After getting a ride home, car was towed the next day, ($67), brought to pep boys for analysis and was told fuel pump failure to the tune of $500 plus dollars. I was not only mad but broke as well. I needed my car to get to work.

Fuel pump went out on my 2003 Chevy Cavalier under 40000 miles. I hear this I S pretty common with this model so I would like a recall opened on it.

My 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier started to stall on the I-5 freeway in san diego California. I managed to coast to an exit ramp where my car completely stalled at the bottom of the ramp in the middle of a lane. I had to call and have my car towed to the dealership. It was the dealership that determined the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. It was replaced and has been fine since. This repair cost me approximately $800.

My fuel pump went out on my 2003 Chevy Cavalier. My vehicle has 61,000 miles and as I was driving up a hill it died. When I got it towed to a shop they informed me that it was my fuel pump and that it is a common problem with this vehicle. Needless to say I paid the $748 to replace the pump and then was informed that the wire that controls the fuel pump had to be replaced as well because it had fused to the frame.

I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier. While driving the car loses power and won't start for a while. I changed the gas filter near the axle and added fuel additive in case there was water in the fuel it was fine for two weeks and then the same thing happened to my wife on the interstate. I have been reading on the internet and people are saying it is a fuel pump problem and cost around 6 to 7 hundred bucks to fix there needs to be a recall.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. While driving approximately 35-40 mph, the vehicle hesitated and all of the instrument panel lights illuminated. Shortly after, the vehicle began operating normally. One minute later, the failure recurred and all of the instrument panel gauges illuminated and began to go in reverse. The contact pressed the accelerator pedal, but nothing happened. She pulled over and attempted to restart the vehicle twice. It started for a second and then shut off. The vehicle failed to start after the third attempt. The vehicle was towed to her residence where her husband/mechanic stated that the failure may be caused by the fuel pump. The current and failure mileages were 56,000.

There are numerous things, and the delaership has convinced GM, because I wrote GM about the problems with this, that I am making this stuff up to get an SUV. First the radio wasn't working, they put the cable back on said it was loose, its still not sounding like a radio should. Next was the popping in the front end, dealership turned rotors, under warranty back brakes squealed real loud they said it was dust I had to pay for that. Back brakes still squeal, front end still pops like a bad cv joint. Trunk wouldn't shut had to keep slamming it. Took it back they greased it worked for awhile starting to get hard to shut sometimes. Brake lights and back lights and cruise control quit working. Took it to dealership at least 5 or 6 times till they finally replaced it how long it will last I don't know. Front sun visor popped when it hung up in rear view mirror real floppy can't use it no more dealer said they ordered it in December. Still waiting not fixed. Real bad odor of gas in car when tank is half full, no explanation as to why. Seat belt makes a funny noise when you are wearing it, pins you back against seat real hard. No explanation for that. Have to stop and jerk on it to loosen it like a seat belt should work. Dealer says I am imagining this stuff because I do not want car, bought it new still paying for it. Been trying to get rid of it they have everyone convinced I am a psycho woman wanting an SUV and thats why I am complaining that is all false. Just plain hate a car I am paying for.
