My fuel gauge started acting "weird" about a month ago. Right now when I fill the car with gas, the gauge will "flop over" to the right. Once I get down to about a 1/4 tank, the gauge will "correct" itself and actually read the correct fuel level.
When the gauge "flops over" to the right, it actually interferes with the next gauge next to it. I'm not sure which one that is because I am sitting at my desk, but it does affect the ability of the other gauge to work properly when "flopped over".
This problem is merely an inconvenience, but just goes along with many of the other "inconvenient" things that seem to happen on GM cars. My two previous cars were Acura Integra's and they never had any of these types of problems......and I drove them into the ground. I would still own an Integra had I not been given this Cavalier as a gift.
I love my car but every now and then the speedometer stops working, and I dont know what to do about it. Here is the deal the first time I notice it it was a day that it was 100 degrees and it said out in the sun for 10 hours then when got in the speedometer would not go any higher then 5 mph. Then the second time I notice it I have been driving for about 14 hours when I notice that we were going pretty fast and I looked down the the speedometer needle was just dropping. The 3 time I notice it it was a day that I ran the heater for about a hour and then it stopped working. I am just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is and about how much it should cost cause I have to make a 6 days trip.
After driving approximately 30 minutes, speedometer stops functioning. Will reset after stopping vehicle for at least five minutes, but can't really do that on long trips.
