This has been an on again/off again problem for years. It's on again after having my transmission rebuilt, although this time it seems like it might be permanent. I used to be able to restart, or avoid shifting into reverse soon after starting my car, and either method prevented what I call the 'trio of lights'.
From what I understand this means there is debris or something in one of the ABS sensors and when one of the sensors is not working, you get all three lights because the ABS system wont operate unless all parts are in working order.
When I start the car, back up, and pull forward; the ABS, Trac off, and Service lights come on. The car seems to hesitate only at first take off at time. If I restart the car, it runs fine. Seems to do it when the temperature is cool. Someone else had the same identical problem with their 2004 Cavalier. Winter's around the corner, please help. Had this problem before in Jan. 2008 twice. Took it to the Chevy dealership. 1st time they cleaned the fuel injector and cleaned up the carbon buildup. 2nd time changed the air filter. The labor is costing me an arm and a leg. Please help ASAP. I have a handicapped daughter and don't want to be stranded for the Winter. Thanks.
