Cavalier Z24 2.4L

  • Manual transmission
  • 123,000 miles

The sound is from dirty, dry strut coil spring, no danger or damage, just very annoying!

Cavalier 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,178 miles

Ok, so, this car has made many turns .. (of course), but one day I suddenly heard a loud PING, or pong, whichever, and I could actually feel a little something odd.. since then it's been... ok... I mean, it isn't like it ALL the time.. just on long runs.. something like when it get's hot maybe?.....

I've seen a couple more complaints filed, I might check the TSBs and see if there's anything on there..

Cavalier LS 2.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

The steering wheel makes a clunking sound every time I make a hard turn. The brakes are awful and must be changed frequently. The ABS light comes off and on, had it looked at, and they said it was a fuse. Now it's coming back on. GM should be ashamed of itself.

Cavalier LS 2.2

  • Manual transmission
  • 122,000 miles

Apparently 96-98 GM cars had this huge recall with rack and pinion steering systems, but it seems like they got lazy and never fixed whatever the problem was/is. this seems to be a pretty common occurence and I will determine what it is eventually and report back.
