Consumer received a NHTSA recall 04V036000 concerning ignition failure. On certain passenger vehicles. If the engine fails to start and the driver holds the key in the "start" position for an extended period, high current flows through the ignition switch, and sometimes produces enough heat to melt internal switch parts. Dealer refused to honor recall unless $35 was paid up front to perform a diagnostic test.
Vehicle stalled intermittently, at any speed, and will start again after 3 to 10 minutes. Been to dealer 3 times, once a burnt out wire on alternator was replaced. Dealer kept telling consumer there was nothing wrong with vehicle.
