The resistor is cheap if you get it on eBay. Getting the blower off can be a major pain though. There is a screw hidden all the way in the back there that is very hard to reach. The best thing to do is use a flexible driver extension so it is easy to get to, and just leave the screw out when you're done (supposedly the dealer mechanics do this too). Even with buying the tools it costs a lot less than what the dealer would charge though (supposedly $70+)

my ac/heater setting only operates on the last two settings. So it gets either really hot or cold in the car during the colder season. The defogger does not work well either.

Well, much like many of you with the same problem (seen at least 10 complaints already about it) - my blower (fan speeds) are not working on speeds 1 and 2 but work on 3 and 4 (it can be any combination apparently). And its a very common problem in all GMs it seems as everyone I talk to knows exactly what I was talking about. The part is called a resistor and it looks like a little piece of electronics that just plugs into the blower for your heating/cooling system. I just picked up the part (about $30.00) and apparently you just drop the blower out (passenger side just under the dash near the centre) and exchange the part.
