The driver's seat belt latch mechanism broke into two pieces and became unattached from the mechanism belt loop anchor. This auto has not been in an accident and received light to moderate use. It has 118K miles.
While driving at about 50 mph consumer had to slam on brakes and the seatbelt did not properly restrain. The little pieces of the belt buckle fell off in the accident.
While traveling on wet surface, went into a spin and hit cement retaining wall. The air bags did not deploy, and seat belt did not lock, driver was injured.
