- Timing Chain Faults - The 95-97 are known for timing chain tensioner faults, resulting in rough/unstable idle, slight misfires, and usually some rattling/ticking/slapping noise from the pulley side of the engine where the chain is located... Can be prevented, and if you use an oem revised part, it should prevent any future failure.

I'm just having problems and I can't explain it in enough details to a mechanic so they can fix it. My car is fairly old, but b4 the problem it was doing just fine. It appears to stall or sputter when I'm going up hill at 60 mph and sputter violently when I press the gas even more to maintain that speed. If I'm in 4 gear and I switch back to a 2 or 3 when I make a turn it was sputter then also. I was just wonderin if you could make a suggestion on what it could be that's wrong. I also want to add, that I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my car didn't start acting up until I had some new spark plugs put in...My car uses AC Delco, but I had an associate of mine to put some Champion spark plugs in..Could that be the problem as well?
