This 95 Cavalier was taken in to the dealer for recall #99088 concerning the PCM. They performed a vehicle inspection at that time and noted under "major service" that it has a "bad head gasket leak." We have kept it under control using aftermarket stop-leak type products, but it is only a temporary fix. If this is such a common failure, does a recall exist to cover the replacement? I have read about this being a common defect in this vehicle.
Engine coolant leaks because of a failure in the clinder head gasket they have no recall, only a letter#C98054 which says they will replace at no charge for 7yrs or 100,000miles. They refuse to replace mine because I have a rebuilt salvage title, the car is like new with the original engine. Antifreeze leaking on our environment is not good, why has there not been a recall?
Vehicle was losing coolant while driving. Vehicle taken to dealer, and consumer was informed of a blown head gasket. Vehicle not covered under a manufacturer's recall due to VIN.

Low engine coolant light comes on. Coolant is added only to have the light come on again about a week or two later. Had a mechanic look at it and was told it was a head gasket problem. I see there are service bulletins out on this. What are the chances of getting it repaired at no cost to me? how should I proceed.
Heater core broke, causing anti freeze to leak out. Replaced 3 heater cores and a head gasket. Manufacturer willing to pay for the head gasket, but states that it is normal wear and tear.
I was advised by another Cavalier owner that a recall letter was sent out advising owners to take their Cavaliers back to the dealers to address head gasket defectiveness.
When driving consumer can hear a loud knocking and grinding noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Also, heater core has been replaced four times. In addition, whenever putting anti-freeze into the vehicle the anti-freeze will leak out. In addition, transmission has been replaced.
The engine check light/coolant light came on when driving fast, letting driver know to check coolant. Coolant was pouring out through the air conditioning line. Within a minute the fluid was all gone. Consumer has gone through five heater cores. July 16, September 11 and November 24. Also blew the head gasket on December 22, 1997. Vehicle is now being repaired for heater core. Due to defective heater core, there was engine damage. Dealer said they have done everything manufactured. Told them to do, but they still could not find a cause for defects.
While driving the right front engine mount broke, causing the engine to drop, resulting in the engine coming in contact with the exhaust manifold. Driveshaft hit the exhaust manifold putting a 2 inch hole in it, engine also hit firewall denting it, the steering control was affected and almoste caused consumer to lose control, the upper rh engine mount also appears to have broken internally.
