it stalls after driving 10-15 miles when you apply the brakes on the highway. But it will always start again but, when you put in gear(drive or reverse) it will stall right away. Now if I let it sit for about 15 -20 min. it will start and I can put it into gear just about enough to get my butt home! It does not idle rough except when this happens. It idles a little but not a whole lot

my car would rough idle then die when I would step on the brakes. I found that the problem was in the trans for the solenoid for the locking convertor. I just unplugged it in the front of the trans 9 yrs ago and have never had another problem with that happening again.

Description of problem: You are driving down the road, and everything is fine until you let off the gas pedal and apply the brakes. At this point the engine shakes badly and may even quit running. This is very dangerous as you lose power steering when the engine is not running. This type of problem may occur suddenly.

solutions: intake system gasket is leaking, the throttle linkage or mechanism needs to be repaired or replaced, or there is a prob. with the electronic engine control system.
