My Captiva 2013 idles fine, it does not switch off even if I go at the 1st gear. The problem starts when I go uphill, it loses power and just stops though the engine is still on. When revving it in neutral there are no problems, even my reverse is fine, but uphill it loses power.

Captiva LTZ 2.2L Td

  • Automatic transmission

The problem is intermittent, does not happen all the time. While driving the engine will lose power (it does not cut out) just loses power. If i take my foot off the accelerator and accelerate again the engine will rev up and go again till around 2500 to 3000 RPM then power down again. this will continue for 10-30 minits. The engine can be hot or cold the same thing. My engine light is on, also comes and goes.I have other electronic problems as well.for example. when the passenger opens the window the wipers go on. The driver door open close sensor doesn't always work. I have to replace my headlight globes every 2 to 3 months they blow regularly.

Purchased the car 7 days ago....... I could've continued to drive my old vehicle, if I wanted the engine light to be on.

Hit OnStar was told that there was an issue with the fuel in the vehicle. Called the service dept at the dealership, was told to bring the vehicle in immediately. Sub zero temps affected the E85 fuel used in the vehicle causing the engine light to come on. Dealership was crowded with other vehicles with the same problem. Because of the crowd and demand for "engine light" issues, I was told that the part needed to be ordered, I'd be called over the next day for repair. When the piece arrived, 2 days later, service called me in and replaced the mechanism that triggered the engine light. No ongoing issues with the engine light since.

Check I

Engine light came on, panic set in a block after I left the house, on star diagnosis> Emission problem< said petty much just start it for about seven times (basically start or wait 7 times to see! )Thought it was the gas cap which when I turned it over to the dealer the code a was P0442. They said it was the gas cap>> ok like I don't know how to close a gas cap!!! Long story short the reset the Light....... Drove the car about 400 miles the light comes on one day before I got gas ( still 1/3 gas left in tank)
