In a crash, the driver's side exterior panel crushed and caved in the interior, pinning my son's leg. He was extracted from the vehicle and had 12 broken bones in his leg from the crushing of the Captiva on his leg. This car disintegrated in the crash. I see there are no crash tests on the car. Why weren't there any tests for crash viability. My son was driving the Captiva as a rental from Avis. The car slipped on ice and started to flip. He got it under control but hit a barrier wall on the interstate.
When I retrieved his belongings at the car impound, I noticed the dashboard was in pieces and pieces of it were all over the SUV interior. The heating vents were even blown out. Pieces of the dash board were just dangling in the leg area on both sides even though the crash was on the driver's side. Had this car been well built, the passenger compartment would not have collapsed.
