The electronic power steering system failed during track driving. Driving aggressively for almost 30 minutes, the power steering assist failed to -??assist-??; the vehicle was able to be steered but only with great effort in turning the steering wheel causing a loss of control. The message -??Service Power Steering-?? message appeared on the instrument cluster. Exiting the track and turning the vehicle off then on allowed the steering system to return to normal.
Power steering on vehicle failed causing the steering to lock up while driving with almost no ability to stear the car. This problem was found and issued a recall on earlier years but not mine although the car was built the same time as those earlier years.
After driving approximately 4 hours at highway speeds of 65- 70 mph the steering became very difficult to move, then suddenly the car jolted in the intended direction creating an need to compensate back in other direction. Same issue encountered I had to force the steering in the direction to correct and stay in lane, again jolting in the opposite direction. This happened repeatedly until I could exit the highway. During city travel car responded normally. On return home after approximately 4 hours driving again, same situation no control of steering. Extremely dangerous situation, car is not road worthy. Brought to dealer, response after 3 days in shop - no codes so nothing to repair. Failure of Camaro steering due to rack and pinion, and control boards are found for many similar events during proceeding years of the car.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH and, on a race, track the vehicle would not brake and the steering wheel failed to turn the vehicle as the contact was navigating a turn on the racetrack. The contact crashed into the racetrack wall on the driver's side. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed by a manufacturer representative, however, the information was not shared with the contact. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
My 2019 Camaro SS2 brand new shut down and restarted 3 times while in motion. Then I stopped killed engine and it wouldn't restart, couldn't turn on flashers, completely dead. I finally opened driver door and closed and was able to start it. The steering quit while parking, and periodically the car wont lock. Dealer said nothing wrong, no codes
