I was on the Edens Expressway in Cook County, Northfield Illinois when the transmission failed. It was a 55 MPH zone. I exited at Old Orchard Rd. by stepping on the gas really hard. I went down a hill to get to my parking lot all the time stepping on the gas pedal really hard just to go a few miles an hour and got into the parking lot where the car died. I called a tow truck and the car was towed into the closet dealer. The car sat there for seven weeks and I was told I needed a new transmission.

During the process a mechanic dropped the pan and it was full of metal. The dealer could not get a new transmission because there were none. I went to the internet and found that no dealer in the United States had one. I also ended up renting a car. I finally decided to trade in the car as I was spending a lot of money for a rental. Since this was the period of Covid the dealer had no cars. I bought a Chevrolet Equinox and paid over list for it. I could not go to another brand. as I would have had to tow the car for another dealer to look at it. I loved that car and actually showed it as I am a car show judge. I did contact GM and I did get a good response because I have been a GM customer for many decades.

I am unhappy that the transmission failed in a way that could have killed me. Going about 10MPH on the expressway is bad. I also was planning to keep this car. By the way I could not find another Camaro in the Chicago Area. In the end this entire problem cost me a lot of money based on the low trade in and having to purchase a new car.
