- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that make a grinding or growl noise when the brakes are applied. Some brake noise is normal in all braking systems and the difference in the noise is due to loading, type of driving, or driving style can make a difference in brake wear on the same make and model vehicle. Weather conditions, driving patterns, and the local environment, brake noise may become more or less apparent. Technician will need to inspect the metal-to-metal contact areas between pads, pad guides, calipers, and knuckles are clean. Vehicles that have a high performance braking package make more noise at slower speeds than a conventional braking system.
