This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp, rough running, and/or lack of power. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P0101, P0171, P0172, P0174, and/or P0175 set. Technician will need to inspect the hydrocarbon absorber pad that is on the inside of the air cleaner lid to ensure that it is properly secured to the lid. If the hydrocarbon absorber pad is found loose, technician will need to replace the air cleaner lid.
