This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Very bad shimmy and shake when braking, also when trying to spped up from a dead stop or otherwise car pulls back, or stumbles. At about 45000 miles a valve broke into three pieces. Had heads replaced. Brakes and stumbling is reoccuring brakes since I bought the car new in 99 and stumble since early 2004. Speakers located in the back seat panels also keep blowing out.
Car will not brake or stop smoothly. Condition is warped rotors. Selected a well known popular parts shop for replacement rotor. Replacement rotor is diamond cut w/O holes. Bigger cooling vains with a set of porcelin pads. Unknown at this time if this corrects the warping problem.
Rotors first became warped at around 20,000. Rotors continue to become warped every 5-10,000. GM/Chevrolet refuse to admit or fix this defect despite numerous complaints from many drivers.
Car only has 40000 miles on it and whenever I would brake or come up to a stop light, the wheels would shimmy and the steering wheel would vibrate. I was afraid it would not stop and would cause an accident. I took it to the Chevrolet dealer in waldorf md. The mechanic said he could find nothing wrong with it and could not make it do it. That was 2 months ago and it still does it all the time. Sounds like all these other similar complaints for this vehicle.. defective warped rotors. This is very dangerous and I cannot get a dealership to fix it.
Both front rotors have been turned twice to releive wearout. Rotors will have to be replaced again, and will not be covered under warranty by manufacturer. Defective rotors do not allow consumer to stop vehicle appropriately which could cause an automobile accident.
Front brake rotors experienced warping under normal driving conditions, causing shuddering of vehicle during braking. Dealer resurfaced rotors. Rotors warped again within 2000 miles.
Dealer has refaced front brake rotors twice once under warranty and once for $100 I believe the rotors to be defective due to oem quality or heat treat specifications and engineering standards, there are aftermarket rotors available that do not warp with the severity and frequency of the oem parts.
Front brake rotor continually warp. Replacements were done at every 8,000 miles of wear. Vehicle been to three different dealers, and still unable to resolve the problem. Feel free to provide any further details.
The warped rotors that were replaced in my car were warped at about 9,000 miles. My biggest concern is that the dealer is telling me that this is not warranty work because this is "normal" wear and tear.
Ongoing problem with faulty rotors. On two occasions (14,000 miles & 28,000 miles), dealer turned all rotors because of pulsation received from brake pedal when applied brakes. Currently, at 32,000 miles, problem reoccurred, and dealer refused to replace rotors.
