Brake lines on these models are notorious for rusting through especially in the rust belt that I live in. Mine lasted longer than many and went out in 2016. Rust through of the rear main brake line caused a brake failure. Chevy only offered PVC coated brake lines, so they know their uncoated OEM’s are not sufficient. I replaced all lines myself for ~$120 for all new lines from Chevy, fluid and a DIY bleeder I made using my air compressor. Cost wasn’t bad, but it was a real pain to replace the lines. Luckily I have other means of transportation. It took me a couple of weeks working on it here and there. My advice to other do it yourselfers, pull the bed instead of dropping the tank. Also pressurize your brake system to bleed ABS module if you also replace your master cylinder lines. Still love my Chevy, this has been the first major problem in 16 years!
