This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
If parking brake is set and you attempt to move the vehicle, the bolt that secures the parking brake assembly inside the wheel fails. I think this is a potential for catastrophic brake failure if the parking brake component were to interfere with the movement of the wheels. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated that this is a known issue and all they are doing is replacing the bolt. The state of Texas vehicle inspection requires setting the parking brake and attempting to drive the vehicle, which would result in the failure of this bolt. The service advisor stated that the bolt was about the thickness of a crushed coke can. I think this bolt needs to be replaced with a more secure bolt that will not fail.
