1996 chev Blazer, we have replaced the alternator twice, the battery 3 times and if it is not started and or driven every day, then we have to jump it " what can the problem be. It only has 55,000 miles on it. I drove it all week and on Saturday, did not drive it on Sunday and Monday morning I had to get it jumped. This has been going on for sometime ? I have taken it to my local dealer and another mechanic and all they want to do is put another alternator on it. Twice, 2 different batteries have leaked acid from the positive terminal melting the battery cable. Both batteries were ac delco/part no. 19001628. 2nd battery was installed 01/12/00.
Battery leaked acid onto 4 wheel drive cable. Front wheel drive failed. Cable had corroded actuator cable.caused cable to break.failure occured on trip to mountains. Had to get chains to get out of snow. It cost $203.13 to replace actuator cable and $226.61 to replace battery cable and battery. Battery was only one year old. Service manager said they have similar problems with delco batteries. Same problem has already been reported to NHTSA. Reference ODI id 554064,724743,717883,885560
Several times this Blazer will not start- I have had it to the dealer and was told they could not find anything wrong- this time I saw that when the Blazer was running and you turned on the headlights it would die and you would have to jump it to get it started again- the interier lights would come on while driving (for no reason)- at one point the a C stopped working- the problems started a few years ago but the dealer could never find anything wrong.

Intermittently vehicle stalls and dies, giving the driver no warning. Dealer has replaced the alternator/battery and fuel pump and the problem still exists.
Battery acid leaks over the 4- wheel drive cable located under battery plate; acid ate through cable, causing the 4- wheel drive to be inoperative. Vehicle taken to dealer, informed consumer of inoperative four -wheel drive. Dealer immediately informed consumer what the problem was, but could not repair it because the part was not in stock. This situation had to be ongoing for dealer to do corrections. Consumer has yet to be contacted by the dealer that the part is in. Believed this matter should be looked into for mfr. Defects. Thanks for help.
When going up hill, the accelerator pedal left driver's foot and went to the floor. The engine revved and the Blazer took off. The vehicle was towed to a dealership. Dealership stated that the Blazer had a dead battery..
