Consumer took vehicle in for a brake service, and asked for a rotation of tires. Dealership informed him they could not rotate tires or perform a front end alignment because all of front ball joints were worn out. A Chevrolet dealership mentioned that this could be the result of a bad design. Consumer also had front brakes replaced, consumer also had to replace all four tires due to ball joints.

Consumer had to replace brake shoes/rotors approximately 4 times since she has owned vehicle. First replacement occurred when vehicle had less than 11,000 miles on it. Last occurrence involved replacement of front brake pads and rotors at 59,189 miles.

Recall 99V193000/ABS: Vehicle experiencing intermittent problem with soft pedal and fading brakes. Vehicle taken to independent repair shop and informed consumer that left rotors were pitted/ corroded. Both rotors and pads were replaced at consumer's cost. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and informed that vehicle was not covered under a recall.

ABS brake sensors have been coming on and off for years but the dealer could not find the problem. We have been operating the vehicle on regulars brakes off and on since we purchase the motor vehicle. The dealer did not tell use that their was a problem with the ABS brake system on the Chevrolet Blazer until we read of the recall on the 1996 Blazer.

When applying the brakes ABS kicks in which makes the vehicle take longer to stop. Sometimes the pedal will go to the floor. Also, dealer has replaced rotors and pads, but defect still exists.

Braking system malfunctioned, causing more wear and tear on the brake pads and rotors which been been replaced 3 times. Also, ABS system malfunctioned, causing extended stopping distance which may cause a crash. Please provide further information and VIN#.

On April 14, 1997, (18,9113 miles) vehicle had front calipers rebuilt and new pads and rotors installed. On September 25, 1997, (27,585 miles) belt tensioner and belt were replaced. On October 23, 1997, (29,2116 miles) front brake pads were replaced. On November 11, 1997, (30,216 miles) service engine light on. Code PO442 found. Vacuum line off pulse valve they said. On January 13, 1998, (34,102 miles) service engine light on. Code P1870 for transmission slippage. Cleared code, that was all. On February 16, 1998, (35,514 miles) service engine light on, and front brakes squeeling, found code P1870. Found water in connector on transmission. Replaced front brake pads and turned rotors. Dealer stated that no further brake work would be done on warranty. February 24, 1998 (36,059 miles) service engine light, front brake squeeling. Transmission level low they said, and advised braked performing as designed at this time. March 5, 1998, (36,562 miles) service engine light on. Found code P1870. Replaced transmission tcc pulse solenoid. March 18, 1998, service engine light on again, dealer refused to work on it. Vehicle was driven home and has remained unmoved since.

Premature brake failure on right side front. Brake pad frozen to caliber causing continuous wear. Replaced under warranty by dealer at 24,000 miles. Same occurred at 38,000 miles, 13 months and 14,000 later. This seems to be a common problem among owners of this vehicle as reported to automobile clubs.

EA94038, ABS braking system failure; the brake calipers hang up, causing the brake pads to wear out. The brakes pads have been replaced twice in a 13 month period. Once with 17,000 miles. Pads are being replaced again at 37,000 miles. GM stated that this is a normal condition.

Everytime the brakes are applied a loud grinding noise occurred. The front brake pads were woren down completely with no indication. Repair shop replaced rotors and pads.

ABS brake problems; when applying the brakes the pedal goes almost to the floorbroad, resulting in extended stopping distance. This happens under normal braking and no inclement weather. The rotors were turned and pads replaced twice in less than a year. The rotors and pads need replacing again. The Blazer was purchased with 18,000 miles, and currently the Blazer has 39,000 miles. Dealer stated that the braking system was normal for the Blazer.

Brakes: When driving and attempting to slow down or stop, applied the brakes they make a grinding noise. Pushed the pedal completely to the floor and the vehicle will roll before can get it to stop. Had brake pads and rotors replaced at least twice. Dealer says there is nothing wrong, it's from wear and tear of the brakes.

While applying the brakes, it would make squealing noises. Took to dealer & informed the front brake pads are gone & rotors need turning. Stopping distance is longer when putting on the brakes.
