I bought my blazer in sept 2005...I also bought the best warranty that covered all big ticket items i.e. transmissions. Anyways, roughly a year later I started having issues with my transmission not keeping fluid but I couldn't find a leak anywhere. One day I was driving and noticed my truck was billowing smoke so I pulled over and popped the hood with it still running. The moment I opened my hood flames shot out and scared the s#@t out of me so I quickly turned the car off. The flames died as soon as I turned it off. I let it cool down and babied it all the way to the dealership. They had me take to a 3rd party that specialized in transmissions. I was under the impression that my warranty covered the repairs but when I went to pick it up after being repaired I was informed that it was going to cost me a pretty penny. I told the guy about my warranty so he checked into it. Come to find out he had to inform me on something the dealership failed to do and that was that my warranty was canceled the day I drove it off the lot because my mileage was too high to qualify. So since they failed to notify me that my warranty was voided or give me back the $2000 I paid for it up front, mind you a year has passed, I threatened a lawsuit if it wasn't taken care of. Sure enough it was paid in full and I got my money back. Yay! I needed to get that off my chest. My only concern is it was never fully explained to me on what went wrong.
