The contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet Blazer. While driving 63 mph, the fuel injector stopped working and the engine began to stall. There were no warning indicators before the failure occurred. There was a loss of power steering and the engine eventually shut off when the contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive it to the mechanic. The weather was not a factor. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number 06E041000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The mechanic stated that the fuel injection valve failed and the vehicle was repaired with the new parts. The incident occurred again several months later. The contact received an invoice. The current mileage was 219,000 and failure mileage was 206,000.
Cfi injector unit has gone bad twice, at 58800 miles and again 18 months later, Chevy dealer admits is a common problem. Can only get replacement part from GM at $500 a piece. Part leaks fuel and engine will not start. Why hasn't this been a recall? it is a very profitable situation for Chevrolet. ******dimsii IVOQ entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****739786***
One injector was leaking fuel onto the engine resulting in a loud boom when the vehicle was started, damaging the engine (vortex engine). The check engine light never illuminated indicating there was a problem. The dealer has been notified.
Initially replaced egr valve in 1998, have replaced it 4 additional times (by Chevy dealer) within two years. Build-up of carbon in the engine causing stalling, shaking and failure of engine in traffic. Brakes tend to stick as well. Erroneously charged for two fuel injectors that were not needed due to misdiagnosis of problem. Car has sat for last 3 weeks while attempting to contact Chevy customer service at hq, was given promises of refunds, call backs and have not heard from anyone. Looked at this site and saw other owners with same problem, possible recall but we were not notified by the dealer or Chevrolet. In addition both rear seat belts stopped working nearly two years ago where our young son often sits. Seeking possible legal action for reimbursement, replacement of vehicle or final repair of defects.
