After eating through 5 fuel pumps, a mechanic finally had the idea that maybe it wasn't the fuel pump's fault for dying. Turns out it wasn't...the regulator on the upper intake manifold is rotted out and not maintaining fuel pressure. Therefore, makes the fuel pump work a LOT harder and life of the pump shortens drastically ( 1 every 6 months).
