This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
At any given time, during normal driving conditions the vehicle loses power and reduce speed without warrant, the RPM gauge will show at least 3 fluctuations of speed from 500 to about 3000 RPM when this occurs. Attempts to step on the gas pedal will not correct the situation. Second reaction from the driver would be to step on the brake pedal, and the vehicle will try to accelerate on its own. The vehicle will also stall if this occurs when being stopped at a traffic light and trying to accelerate. The dealer could not duplicate the failure in any of the three instances the vehicle was taken to them. Current mileage 13,421.
The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. When driving at speeds of at least 35 mph, the vehicle would lose power and decrease in speed without warrant. The contact would apply constant, steady pressure to the accelerator pedal until the vehicle would regain speed and resume normal operation. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but did not provide any further assistance. The failure and current mileages were 10,682.
