This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Dash has cracked and broken at left top corner of passenger side airbag and over instrument panel on drivers side. Entire dash is very brittle. This could lead to serious injury or death in the event of airbag deployment. I have seen hundreds if not thousands of these complaints for all Chevy and GM trucks and SUV's in this year vehicle and the years following it. Will it take a piece of dash flying through someone's jugular vein to get GM to finally care about customer safety?
The dash is cracked in two places, one is right at the corner of the passenger air bag, the second is above the instrument panel. I was told this is happening in all GM trucks 2007-2013. GM and the dealer will not fix. I am afraid that if the air bags deploy the dash will be shrapnel. And cosmetically it looks horrible and rattles. GM needs to recall.

Takata recall approaching one year and under review!! on January 17 2017 I called GM assistance to find out the status of recall after receiving a written notice. They stated that is still under review. It is still safe to drive. Why does it take almost a year to even start and postpone under the heading of under review" Honda started the change out immediately after the notice. Are they waiting till one of the four grandchildren or wife is injured or killed" it appears that it is cheaper to have someone die than to do the correct thing of replacing a defective part. They appear to be attempting to sweep it under the rug. Please draw their attention and get things completed as they should do. Dashboard has developed severe cracking on driver and passenger sides especially around the airbag area. This is the second dashboard in this vehicle. My concern is that the airbag may be punctured or otherwise ineffective upon deployment due to the instability and sharp, broken pieces of plastic dashboard. After having the dashboard replaced previously for these same reasons it has been protected with a dashmat and sunshade. This is certainly a quality issue which GM is aware of.
I own a 2007 Chevy Avalanche ltz. I had an incident where my seatbelt pretensioners fired for no reason, causing great pressure across my chest. I was stopped at a stoplight. My airbag did not fire, but hazard lights, emergency systems activated. I tried to submit a safety claim through Chevy but after 5 weeks they denied my claim. They sent out an investigator who found the SDM module had been corroded due to water damage. After investigating this on the internet I found this same issue to happen to many truck owners. Long story short, do I have any re-course" do you have annoy previous claims on the SDM module and pretensioners firing out of the blue" Chevy says I have to pay the bill to get it fixed. It was quite the traumatic experience and I thought I had gotten shot due to the pressure and noise. I can't imagine if my daughters were in the car and the damage it could have caused to them. Please let me know if there have been previous cases with SDM or seatbelt pretensioners
Takata recall on my air bag inflator is having a major effect on trading my vehicle in for a new vehicle and has reduced my value. This open recall with no GM solution is currently a real problem for me.

The recall was issued May 2016. We received notice July 2016. It is now end of December 2016. Chevrolet states the vehicle is 'safe to operate'. the recall states that it may 'cause serious or fatal injuries' if it deploys. On the face of this, the vehicle may not be safe to operate. When can I expect to have this recall completed?
