CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002 Chevy Astro Van has a solid reputation with very low complaint rates. The only problem now is finding one with low miles.
Not only is the 2002 Astro Van reliable, but since they were built on a truck powertrain, they can tow 5,500/5,000 lbs (RWD/AWD) -- almost double what other minivans can.
The Chevy Astro is mechanically identical to the GMC Safari.

The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Astro. While the vehicle was undergoing a routine inspection, the contact was informed that his exterior lighting/brake light switches were inoperative. He called the dealer in reference to NHTSA campaign id number 05V099000 (exterior lighting:brake lights:switch). The dealer stated that his VIN was not included in the recall although the failures were identical. The contact would be responsible for the repair costs.
