About These NHTSA Complaints:
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
ABS brakes seem to kick in at low speeds. Can feel the brake pedal pulsating. Would make loud noises when brakes are applied. On its own the ABS brakes would engage & then disengage. Problem is intermittent & cannot be duplicated. Have taken vehicle to dealership & mechanic has test driven vehicle to apply brakes, but the problem was never solved.
Consumer took vehicle in for front brake repairs & found out that the rear axle seals failed. Rear brakes had to be replaced due to this problem. Service advisor told consumer this was not common for this vehicle.
Was traveling 40mph when another vehicle cut in front & had no tail lights. Applied brakes to avoid hitting vehicle. Had pumped brakes, but vehicle had slid & rearended the other vehicle due to lack of brakes. Upon impact with other vehicle, air bags failed to deploy.
While backing out of a driveway at 10 mph consumer lost power steering and brake control. Consumer had to pump the brakes until vehicle came to a stop.
Had front brakes repaired due to excessive wear. 1 pair of brakes shoes out of 4 is wearing out each time. At 17000miles, brakes shoes are wearing out again & need to be replaced. Dealer is refusing to repair again due to being out of warranty. Is happening to left front brakes only.

While driving at 45 mph applied brakes, no brakes, frontal impact occurred and neither airbag deployed. Dealer contacted and is aware of the problem. Condition of vehicle not determined. Problem still exists. Provide further information.
Vehicle developed a random pull while braking, particularly in rain or snow & slush. In the beginning it was only the first time you applied the brakes after you drove 2 or 3 miles then it happened on dry pavement. It happens only occasionally, but can be very severe, it nearly pulled me into the guide rail on one occasion. This started around 12000 miles and it now has 46000 miles on it. The dealer has replaced pads, turned rotors, aligned the front end twice, and ground the clearance on the calipers twice. At GM denied having more complaints about this but I have heard of other paople with the problem. I was called by the dealer the other day to bring it in again to lower the front end and another alignment. I recently took it on a trip in which my brother inlaw drove it and asked me "have you noticed this thing pulling?" my wife also drives it and has complained to me. This vehicle has a problem, and I suspect there are others! I had a 1992 Astro AWD but never had the problem. A friend of mine traded her Astro AWD off because it had a similar problem, but pulled to the left, into oncoming traffic. I 've been lucky so far, but it could easily cause an accident because on some of the severe incidents it has pulled me off the edge of the road.
Defective power steering pump, caused loss of steering. Also, ABS pump went out while driving at 5mph, causing loss of the brakes. Gasoline gauge is no longer working. Dealer has been contacted.
