Vehicle Transport 5 children and handicapped wife-- if wiper motor goes out during travel at high rate of speed an accident will occur/ we have just gotten lucky. 2 auto places said that part is on recall from Chevrolet but can't find any definate information or recall number to complain to Chevrolet. My kids range from 16-4 and I would hate for an accident to cause their lives if it can be avoided. Is their a recall on this part" what is the recall number" thank you.

Windshield wipers quit at will. Sometimes they will come back on by jiggling some wires under the hood. During a rain storm when needed, they really don't come on. Dealer has been contacted.

Windshiel wipers intermittently quit working, just like my 1996 Blazer and 1997 K3500. This is a serious problem involving what appears to be all of GM's vehicles where the wipers quit working at critical times or may not begin working when needed. Please help consumers today.
When windshield wipers are needed they are inoperative, causing poor driver visibility which could cause a crash. NHTSA recall 98V150000/ manufacturer's recall 98043/ windshield wiper motor failure does not include this vehicle due to VIN. The windshield wipers have worked intermittently since March 1997, at which time we took it to selman Chevrolet and were told that the warranty time had elapsed and we would have to pay the $80 - $100 for repair. The cost has prohibited us from repairing them. Now we hear that there is a recall on the same part for windshield wipers in Blazer, Suburban, etc. We feel that the part should be replaced for astrovan owners also. Please help us to get this taken care of in a timely manner. Thank you and thanks for having people available for us West coast people. That was very helpful to be able to talk to a real person that late in the day.

The windshield wiper motor has not completely failed but on a number of occasions has seized while in operation nearly causing accidents. Dealer refused to replace wiper motor while under warranty because it had not completely failed and worked when inspected by the technician.
