The alternator bracket, serpentine belt and tensioner broke. Consumer was able to drive the vehicle from the main road; however, due to loss of brakes, the consumer wasn't able to use the emergency brakes. Consumer was able to stop the vehicle when the transmission was shifted to park. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was discovered that the failure was the alternator, serpentine belt and tensioner. Incident was reported also at General Motors (GM), Chevrolet motor division (file number: 1-185249227).
Heard loud pop out of from end, lost power steering, power brakes. Pulled off road, seen that belt was broken. Went to replace belt notice alot of movement in alternator bracket. After further investigation, found two bolts of three broken off in engine block, other is stripped out can't remove.
Engine stalls out for no reason/ABS brakes do not stop vehicle when brakes applied/transmission fails to shift into reverse and instrument panellights stay on during the day. Vehicle still running after ignition is turned off. Taking to dealer again.
