A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I have a 2016 Caddy XTS that started shuttering about a day after I hit a squirrel. So I called geico who was suppose to pick up the vehicle and take it to the shop. I waited 2 days and had it towed myself. The body shop felt the shudder and called geico who had the car sent to the dealer Rick Hendrix Chevy in Duluth GA that it was not because of the animal but "wear and tear " of the transmission's "Torque Converter" and they wanted $2500 to fix the vehicle because geico would cover it only the damage to the splash guard underneath.

So I had the car towed to Mr. Transmission in Dekalb GA. The confirmed the dealership findings and added that there is "debris" inside the converter and will be about $1700. Today I find out that there is a RECALL for 8 speed GM transmissions because of the "torque Converter" springs coming loose and causing shuttering so GM will replace the Trans if you have certain VINs of which mine is not. I'm not understanding I have all the symptoms and the GM dealer diagnosed it so why do I get the recall! Who do I see about this???

XTS Luxury V6

Transmission went out totally at about 65000 miles. Cadillac fixed it under warranty.

About 10,000 miles later(and out of warranty), the torq converter has started shuddering when it shifts. Dealership says $2400 to fix it...and there will be no help from Cadillac/GMC even though it has only been 10,000 miles since total failure.

No more GM vehicles for me. Currently and previously owned Toyotas and Hondas go 200,000 miles or more with no major issues. My 2000 Ford Truck has almost 200k miles with no major issues.

SHAME ON GM.
